AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Ultimate Mission - (review)

Ultimate Mission is a military thriller with plenty of adrenaline and taking place in 2030, focusing on a deadly virus outbreak on a remote island of the Pacific, Asel Island. The urgency and danger of an international health emergency are captured in the movie, where an international bio-safety team is on a time-sensitive rescue mission and has sent three special agents to accomplish this task. It is a story about sacrifice, collaboration and moral gray whereby the agents are in a race against time to contain the virus and avert a disaster that has potential to destroy the entire human race.

Filtered, the movie looks stunning with the use of atmospheric cinematography to highlight the island in its unexplainable solitude and the threat present in the island. The production design is very bright and reflects biohazard areas, military camps and the haunting landscape and makes the viewers plunge into the world of dystopia. The special effects are effective in presenting the biological danger of the virus and the hi-tech invention applied in containing the virus. The performance is powerful, and every character arrives with its own unique personality and moral outlook, as well as contributing to the dramatic storyline, which happens to be rather dramatic. Direction is also tight and very suspenseful, with the combination of explosive action and moments of silence to emphasize the seriousness of the mission.

The most memorable aspect was that the movie was able to comment on the strength of humans and their ability to resist major odds. It also caused me to reflect on how delicate our world is and how we have to sacrifice to save it. The somber and suspenseful tone produced an indelible impression on us and it did not forget that sometimes heroism is found in silent perseverance. Although the plot might have been expanded to further mature the characters, Ultimate Mission provides an engaging and thought-provoking experience that makes the viewer follow through to the end being entertained and emotionally engaged.
