A Good Man - (review)

A Good Man is a psychological thriller, dark, and it deals with the fact that there is a thin line between love, trust, and insanity. The movie is based on the life of a successful man, Ethan, who is portrayed convincingly by Kamal Smith, who was tormented by the fact that his wife had an affair. When Ethan tries to reconstruct his life with a new love to Ari, his unresolved trauma starts to manifest itself. The increased levels of insecurities and paranoia make him hyper-vigilant, more and more suspicious of what Ari is doing. The movie skillfully portrays his growing nervousness, through visual effects of the atmosphere and a haunting soundtrack, and creates a feeling of fear and a state of emotional instability.

The story assumes a horrific twist when the paranoia in Ethan gets out of proportion and instead of becoming a good man, he becomes a nightmare of bloodshed and mental instability. The suspense builds and builds, and there is no distinction between love and obsession and the conclusion is ultimately a jaw-dropping, Saw-type conclusion. This transition of romance to thriller makes the viewer face some awkward moral, redemption and destructive power of insecurity questions. The movie ends on a chilling note, making it clear that human sanity is so sensitive to the point where it may be stretched to its extreme.

The most engaging thing was that the film explores the devastating influences of the past on the current relationships. It is a vivid description of the inner turmoil that might be caused by betrayal and insecurity that is why the psychological breakdown Ethan experienced is both captivating and disturbing. A Good Man is a very thought-provoking and tense film that delves deep into the darker side of the human mind with the chilling effect. The fact that it had an open-ended ending and promised a sequel implies that they would keep on exploring the unraveling of Ethan leaving viewers both intrigued and disturbed at the same time.
