Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is an epic, emotionally laden, grandiose, which brings in the theme of innocence, spirituality, and survival in the backdrop of a geopolitical war and mystic warfare. Continuing the plot of the first film, it immerses the audience in a deadly game as India is under attack on both the biological and the spiritual front that is a devious scheme by the Chinese troops to destabilize the country by using lethal bioweapons to attack the Maha Kumbh Mela, a holy event in India. The essence of the film is that it displays the aspects of scientific heroism, where Dr. Janani, who is the scientist of the story, is the one who finds the antidote that could save lives and the divine intervention of Akhanda Rudra Sikandar Aghora, who is an awe-inspiring incarnation of Lord Shiva, who comes to save the innocent and to uphold righteousness.
It is a skillful blend of action, mystical rites and emotionalism. The supernatural and the patriotism are intertwined and present in Akhanda through the use of electric fights, spiritual palaces, and borderlands battles, and his divine abilities and martial skills are demonstrated. His battle against the dark magic especially with the wizard Netra highlights the theme of good and evil, faith and corruption in the film.
