Behind Enemy Lines - Vietnam - (review)

Behind Enemy Lines – Vietnam is a vibrant and high-tension battle movie that makes the audience plunge into the tumult of back-seat missions and gun battles through the Vietnam terrain. It dwells on the theme of loyalty, sacrifice and resilience and talks about the deep connections that are established in the crucible of the war and also the sustenance of the human spirit in the darkest times. The mean streak and the continuous action of the film give the movie a catchy ambiance and makes the audience sit at the edge of their seats with the moral doubts of both the soldiers and the mercenaries.

The most touching moment was the emotional gist of the narrative which is the unstoppable effort of Mike Weston to save his captured comrade that is an expression of the strength of loyalty and hope. The image of the unending chase by Weston with the help of his sister Kat and close friends makes one feel admiration and respect. The acting is real world, actors effectively play gritty, vulnerable and determined characters. The realistic approach, the camera work and the genuine production design contribute even more to the realism, as the thick jungles, the claustrophobic prison scenes, and the bloody firefights are all rendered in a very visceral way.

In the end, the film made me have a deep sense of appreciation to the sacrifices people in war make. Its portrayal of heroism as difficult and sometimes suffering provokes our feelings, but we cannot help remembering that hope and connection with humanity are able to survive even during the disaster. Although the action and the lack of time to develop the character at times are reflected by the fast action, the movie “Behind Enemy Lines – Vietnam” provides the viewers with a strong impression of bravery, devotion, and stand firmness.
