Greenland 2: Migration is a dark yet positive sequel of the struggle of mankind to survive after an apocalyptic impact of asteroids. The film hurled the spectator into a grim and frozen post-apocalyptic world, where the Garrity family will be forced to leave the relative safety of their Greenland bunker and embark on a risky journey across the ruinous world of Europe. The story is a description of the chaos and power of human soul in the times of electromagnetic storms, earthquakes and bandits-infested wastelands. Its key concept, a struggle to starvation on its way to a new home is quite relatable as it pays a lot of attention to such values as hope, sacrifice and the desire to live even when it is impossible to fight the need to fight.
The performances are gut-wrenching especially when the family is losing and betraying one another in the process of being united. Emotional aspect of the story is given by Allison, courage of John and the youth of Nathan and introduction of new characters like Camille who is the source of compassion and comradeship to the story. The emphasis is deft in the creation of the scenes of tension due to crossing the English channel, avoiding bandits, and getting to the fertile crater with each scene adding antecedent to the situation and the vulnerable hope of renewal. The cinematography captures all the mystic beauty of the frozen wasteland, the fleeting glimpses of the revival of the planet, and backs up the messages of resilience and birth of the movie.
The most poignant moments were the description of the human spirit after the destruction and the sense that even at the moment when everything is almost destroyed, life somehow finds its way out. The movie made me feel motivated and reflective because it revealed the healing process in the world as it was depicted in the actual scientific theories. Being a triumphant shout of hope amid crisis, Greenland 2: Migration is a thrilling adventure and an emotive journey of hope since it makes the viewer remember that, even at the most hopeless moments of human life, it was always possible to use the hope to help and bring salvation into the life, urging to create and start a new one.
