The film, Mark, is an action thriller which has several themes of justice, corruption and redemption, albeit on a bleak backdrop of the rough market of Karnataka. The movie revolves around Ajay Markandeya, another gritty officer suspended by the police and played by Kiccha Sudeep, who is brought back into the game following a series of bloody events that are about to ruin the state. A murder in brutal gangland, a child kidnapping racket, which is also a political plot, the story unfolds in a conspiracy, betrayal, and heroism web. The underlying theme of the story Mark attempting to seek justice in an excruciating 36 hours keeps the audience on the edge of their seat as it combines emotional narration with the frenetic action.
The movie is brilliant in its representation of Mark as an ideal but imperfect hero, who has to deal with a corrupt system and with personal defeat with his will and unstoppable spirit. The supporting characters particularly the character of Bhadra introduce elements of grit and menace onto the film whereas the political intrigue surrounding the murder of Chief Minister highlights the omnipresence of corruption. The focus is harsh and the action scenes are choreographed and the plot is a balance of massive violence and emotional sensitivity. The music and filmmaking increase the adrenaline, drawing the audience into the pandemonium and the stress of the underbelly of Karnataka.
The most memorable part was the use of bravery and struggle of justice in the world where people are deceived all the time. The determination with which Mark managed to reveal the truth and stand by morality in the middle of anarchy impressed. Mark is an engaging action, political drama and emotional suspense that in the end glorifies the perennial human spirit that struggles with corruption and wickedness. It is a ballsy powerful film that makes the audience wish that the hero would win.
