One Mile: Chapter Two brings the show to a higher level, with its unstopping rhythm and heightened emotional tension. The book begins with the character of Danny Beckett, who is a retired special forces soldier and already scarred by the encounter he had previously, and now is trapped on a deserted island where a violent and secretive society is trying to take revenge. This time when his daughter Alex is taken again as a revenge, the world of Danny turns into a dangerous place of battle. As an animal, as a man, he leads a ferocious, uncompromising hunt against foes who appear to always be one step ahead, ready to foresee all of his actions.
The mood in the film is heavy with tension and this is further enhanced by the claustrophobic setting of the islands that resembles a living and breathing cage. The photography of nature is the wild untamed land and it echoes the chaos and desperation of the chase of Danny. The balance of the direction is brilliant, alternating between the scene of visceral action and the moments of inner reflection and expansion of the desperation and determination of Danny. The music and sound effects are so tense that they engulf the audience in the mad run in which the limits of physical and emotional strength are pushed to the limit. The actors are very believable and perform the roles of characters who have been stretched to the limit, with the emotional focus of the story being the unquenchable spirit of the character of Danny.
The unbending depiction of the love of a father and the price of vengeance that is unremitting struck the most chords. One Mile, chapter two One mile: chapter two is a chilling, intense study of survival, revenge, and strength. It is a gut-wrenching experience that leaves the audience on their toes with a strong feeling of adrenaline and heartbreak. The raw intensity and an emotional depth of the series makes it an interesting part of this terrible game of a father trying to save his daughter by any means.
