The Fantastic Four: First Steps - (review)

“The fantastic four: first steps” is a lively and fantasy-filled tribute to the traditional marvel superheroes with a retro-futuristic flair and contemporary narration. The movie is the recreation of the spirit of the sci-fi of the 1960s, which makes the audience plunge into the realm of color and the collision of science and alien threat. The personal and the epic intertwine in the story, as the author is concerned with the connection of the family facing the dangers of the universe, so the stakes are both high and small. The fact that the team struggled to cope with their duties and guarded their unborn baby also brought that emotional touch to their heroism that made it feel very personal and emotionally charged.

The movie is visually spectacular and uses special effects and imagination of set pieces, including the way planets are destroyed, the battles with Galactus and the Silver Surfer that take place in the universe. The visage of the alien worlds and futuristic technology that is sleek and retro-futuristic brings an element of wonder and nostalgia. The acting is energetic and authentic with no exception of the chemistry between Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben, who each has a distinctly charming character to play. The emotional scenes such as the sacrifice of Sue, the birth of Franklin, and her later resurrection have been done with a sense of sincerity and that is what brought me close to their hardships and their victories.

The most striking message conveyed in the movie was its message of hope and perseverance when in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds. With all its showiness and grandeur, family relationships, ethical decisions, and sacrifices are what made an impression. The ending of the movie foreshadows additional adventures and more mysteries, and foreshadows a universe that is full of possibilities. All in all, it is an interesting mix of the old and the new that made me feel inspired and excited about what is to come next in the Marvel universe.
