“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War” is a thrilling thriller that brilliantly merges the high-stakes espionage with personal stakes for the beloved character. Director M.J. Bassett expertly threads a complicated story, keeping the audience guessing and guessing, as Jack Ryan dances a dangerous dance through a sea of betrayals. The performance is grounded and nuanced, with John Krasinski doing an outstanding job as Jack Ryan, making the character very relatable.

The film’s pacing is relentless, with each scene expertly crafted to build tension and suspense. The scenes of action are explosive and well-executed, especially the stunner of a car chase through Dubai’s streets. Ali Suliman and Wendell Pierce make for solid supporting acts, and the rest of the cast is good.

Although there are a few bumps in the road, “Ghost War” is an engaging and entertaining addition to the Jack Ryan franchise. The film’s plot points of loyalty, duty and the grey areas between good and bad are relevant and provocative.
