War 2 - (review)

War 2 is an action filled, heart throbbing film that immerses the viewer in the world of deceit, trickery and good and evil. Its uncontrollable rhythm and breathtaking effects provide physical experience whereas multi-layered narration makes one ponder about loyalty, sacrifice and the narrow fringes between a hero and a villain. Its emotional core, its quest into the trauma of childhood, redemption and the duty of duty was so deep that the movie was even more than an eye-popper.

The acting is quite strong, particularly in the tints of the personalities of Kabir Dhaliwal and Vikram, whose inner turmoil provides the narrative with pains of feelings. The quality of direction and cinematography is rather high in terms of tension and capturing dramatic action scenes in which the atmosphere is immersive. The production design and the score support the story, which creates the impression of the chaos and the stakes and helps the characters, who each have their own intricacies.

Despite its strong points, in certain cases, the “War 2” is derailed by the overload of the plot and rapid twists which can make the eyes of certain viewers get lost. There are cases when the dialogue is heading towards melodrama, and some motives of the characters may be extended. Yet, these weaknesses are not so crucial as opposed to the visual thrill and the emotional impact of the movie. Lastly it is a powerful, touching action film that left me excited and thinking the true definition of what loyalty, sacrifice and humanity means in the face of anarchy.
