Whispers of Fate is an interesting martial arts drama, which is narrated as a mystery, redemption, and the timeless spirit of chivalry. The novel is based on the life of Tang Li Ci, a loner whose life is disrupted after he was wrongly suspected of murder, and he was involved in a plot to destroy the whole martial arts industry. This was an immediate way to attract my attention as it is a blend of the interest of political intrigue and the inner experiences of a man torn between responsibility and fate. The plot, the development of the story, the feeling of suspense and alienation at the beginning of the story and the sense of change, the emotional and moral awareness in the end, is convincing and touching.
The series is good in terms of its characterization and depth of theme. Tang Li Ci, a character who only appears as morally ununderstandable and alien, opens step by step to the noble ideals of chivalry and courage which permeate the community. His development is touching, as the shift is depicted in the subtle performance and considerate narration. The martial arts sequences are finely choreographed on camera, with picturesque cinematography that sweeps through the expansive landscapes and high-intensity battles. The score elevates the emotional tension, both in tense and reflective moments. An additional element of suspense that keeps the viewers entertained is the unfolding of the plot to expose the sinister scheme to be carried out by the House of Pleasure.
In the end, the poem Whispers of Fate impressed me tremendously. It is a tale of confronting who you really are, and owning up to this in the world of lies and threats. The theme of loyalty, identity and sacrifice that the series explored touched the heart evoking the sense of hope and admiration. Although the plot is sometimes complex and requires a keen observer, it adds to the story and makes the revelations that take place at the end all the better. The series is a well written and well developed exploration into the core of martial virtue, fate and the never ending struggle to seek justice.
