War 2 is a thrilling, action packed movie that engulfs all the viewer in a realm of betrayal, espionage and morality. Its unstopping rhythm and stunning effects offer a physical experience, whereas multi-layered narration makes one think about loyalty, sacrifice and the thin boundaries between a hero and a villain. Its emotional heart, its exploration of the trauma in childhood, redemption, and the responsibilities of duty were so profound that the film was more than an eye-popper.
The acting is very powerful, especially in the shades of the characters of Kabir Dhaliwal and Vikram, whose inner struggles give the story shades of emotions. The direction and cinematography is of high quality in terms of tension and recording dramatic action scenes where the atmosphere is immersive. The score and the production design are supportive to the story, adding to the feeling of the chaos and the stakes and contributing characters are supportive to the story, with their own complexities.
Although it has its strengths, in some instances, “War 2” is derailed by a heavy plot and fast twists that may cause confusion to the eyes of some viewers. Sometimes the dialogue is moving towards melodrama, and some motives of the characters might be expanded. However, these weaknesses are not too serious in comparison with the visual excitement and the emotional charge of the movie. Finally it is a strong, moving action movie that made me feel excited and reflective upon the actual meaning of loyalty, sacrifice and humanity in the midst of anarchy.
