The Journey of Legend Season 1 is a curious combination of fantasy, self-identification and the immortality of narration. It was primarily centered on the life of an ordinary character, Mingming Xiao, who is blindly following the martial arts novels and is immersed in an extremely real virtual world. Told by the eyes of Qiushui Xiao who is a young enthusiast swordsman, the viewer is able to observe the tale of maturity, fidelity and justice when Qiushui grows up as a child and man and becomes a hero capable of defending his loved ones and his nation. The series is a good demonstration of how dreams and ideals can transform lives, and how the story can be utilized to make any positive transformation in spite of the brutal reality.
The one thing that I found the most interesting was that Qiushui had such emotional depth that it was also evident in the life of Mingming. The show is also a manifestation of the disillusionment and hope, with an ability to bring humanity back to life through its skillful illustration of how the need to become a hero can make one feel alive again. The experiments with the virtual world, treachery, loss and sacrifice are introduced with the magnificent tension and bright action scenes which make the spectators immersing in the world where courage is tried at every step. The aspect of loyalty, friendship and righteousness discussed in the story is a pinch on the heart that the idea that we sometimes happen to be a hero until we think we are and are strong enough to keep it up.
Despite several of the anticipated storytelling features, The Journey of Legend is extremely effective in its emotional authenticity and in its imaginative world. It is the tale of how we can draw strength out of desperation and how narratives can be used to imprint on us in that we become more than we were before becoming better people. It was inspiring and thought-provoking, as the series was not only the appreciation of the transforming power of heroism, both fictional and real, but the lesson that ordinary people can at least go on the most extraordinary journeys at the power of hope and belief.
