Whispers of Fate S01 Pt.2 - (review)

Whispers of Fate is rather a curious martial arts drama, which is told as a mystery, redemption, and immortality of spirit of chivalry. The novel is founded on the life of Tang Li Ci who is the loner whose life is destabilized when he was wrongly accused of a murder and he was part of a conspiracy to annihilate the entire martial arts business. It is a quick attention grabber since it is a combination of the political intrigue interest and the inner journey of a man who is torn between duty and destiny. The plot, the story development, the sense of suspense and alienation at the beginning of the story, the sense of change, the emotional and moral consciousness at the end of the story are convincing and touching.

The series is decent with regard to its characterization and the richness of theme. Tang Li Ci, a character that initially merely presents itself as morally incomprehensible and non-relatable, gradually opens up to the grand ideals of chivalry and courage that fill the society. His upbringing is moving, with the change being portrayed in the nuanced acting and thoughtful narration. The martial arts scenes are well shot on camera enhanced with picturesque cinematography flowing in the vast landscapes and combats of high intensity. The score increases the emotional tension, both in tense and reflective scenes. Another aspect of suspense that keeps the audience entertained is the developing story that reveals the evil scheme that is to be executed by the House of Pleasure.

Ultimately, the poem Whispers of Fate struck me as very impressive. It is a story of fighting identity, and being able to face the world with lies and threats. The motif of identity, loyalty and sacrifice to which the series addressed appealed to the heart arousing the feeling of hope and admiration. Even though the storyline is at times very sophisticated and might need a very sharp eye, it contributes to the narrative and only enhances the surprises that occur at the end. The series is a well composed and well developed search into the depths of martial virtue, fate and the perpetual struggle to pursuit of justice.
