AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Runner - (review)

*Runner* turns a familiar high-speed chase into a bruised story about grief and the possibility of forgiveness. Hank Malone, a former Special Forces soldier now working as a courier, is tasked with transporting a donor liver across Brisbane. When a Colombian cartel comes after the organ, the delivery becomes a race against time—with a young girl’s life at stake.

The action moves briskly, and Brisbane gives the pursuit a welcome sense of place. But the film’s escalating threats and hospital showdown sometimes ask more of our belief than the story can support. Its emotional stakes are stronger: Hank is a recovering alcoholic still haunted by the death of his daughter, Isabel, and the marriage that fell apart afterward. His reluctant partner, Ben, brings warmth and courage to the journey, keeping the film from becoming only a succession of chases and shootouts.

What stayed with me was the ache beneath the momentum: Hank can’t change what happened to his own child, but he can choose to fight for another. That idea isn’t especially original, yet the memories of Isabel give it real tenderness. *Runner* may strain credibility, but its themes of guilt, grief, and redemption lend its familiar action framework genuine heart—and its quiet note of hope feels earned.
