Fall 2: Deadpoint - (review)

*Fall 2: Deadpoint* turns grief into a high-altitude endurance test, trapping two women on a swaying plank walk where every step feels like a dare. Jax is still reeling from her sister Shiloh’s death when she joins Luce, one of Shiloh’s friends, on a dangerous climb in Thailand. The mountain’s closing in around them; so are the secrets they’ve brought along.

The film’s best asset is its physical tension. Rain, rockfall, and the exposed walkway make the setting feel genuinely hostile, and the narrow survival premise keeps the story moving. Jax’s grief gives the danger an emotional foothold: this isn’t just a test of whether she can keep climbing, but whether she can face a life shaped by loss. Her uneasy bond with Luce adds warmth, even as the film’s twists push the story toward increasingly sensational territory.

That escalation is also its weakness. The plot piles on revelations and peril until the human drama sometimes gets crowded out by sheer improbability. Still, the mountain’s vertigo-inducing isolation gives the film a vivid sense of dread, and Jax’s struggle to reclaim her footing—literal and emotional—provides a satisfying throughline. *Fall 2: Deadpoint* is most affecting when it pauses amid the spectacle to let grief breathe. Its final image of a new destination points toward another climb, but the journey here is really about learning to move forward without leaving love behind.
