From Paris with Love is a high-energy rollercoaster spy action thriller that is based on high-powered action with a bit of dark humor and bizarre appeal. The movie tracks the journey of a reluctantly seeming aide to the U.S. Ambassador in Paris called James Reece who is plunged into a storm of anarchy after joining the unpredictable and foul-tongued agent named Charlie Wax. A simple mission to prevent a terrorist attack in the city soon turns into a complicated murder of espionage, deception and betrayal which ends with the confrontations and explosive film scenes throughout the most recognized landmarks in the city. The movie is also action packed and its adrenaline rush leaves the audiences at the edge of their seats throughout the movie.
The Reese-Wax chemistry is one of the bright spots in the story, as the young, enthusiastic, and, to some extent, naive Reece is matched up against the unconventional and streetwise Wax with his counterterrorism solutions. The movie is not only good at mixing hard-boiled action with black comedy, but also in the outrageous behavior of Wax and the snappy lines. The twists of the plot, that Caroline is a sleeper agent and that they are about to face the threat at the summit are executed in a brisk manner, leaving the audience guessing and interested. The movement is lively, the visuals are highly stylized, and the camera action enhances the anarchy and the tension, and the soundtrack is in line with the edgy tone of the film.
What stood out most was the fact that the film has shown loyalty, deceit and the grey area in espionage. Even the last scenes with Reece and Wax handshaking as they play a game of chess and have a symbolic moment of fraternity made a strong impression of fraternity made in fire and in the middle of the chaos. On the one hand, From Paris with Love is an outright entertainment a rush of adrenaline that throws the audience into the harsh and unpredictable world of covert operations and leaves them with a feeling of euphoria and praise of its ruthless and unashamed attitude.
