Avatar 3: Fire and Ash - (review)

The highly emotive and deeply environmental stakes of the colorful world of Pandora are expanded in the continuation of Avatar 3: Fire and Ash. The movie touches on a sense of bereavement, loyalty and the continuing battle of survival as the family of Jake and Neytiri wrestle with bereavement as new enemies of both humankind and a savage, violent tribe of Na’vi called the Ash People and under the leadership of the hot-blooded Varang. The film remains visually spectacular with beautiful underwater scenes, lush scenery, and spectacular air battles, plunging the audience into the complicated ecosystem of Pandora hanging on the edge of anarchy.

The novel brings about interesting new characters and new alliances, including the moral ambiguity of the resurrection of the morally questionable Quaritch as a “Recombinant” and the savage, matriarchal Mangkwan clan. The storytelling skillfully strikes the right balance between the high-powered action and emotional scenes of attachment, particularly, Kiri and her self-discovery and her identification with Eywa. The loss of favorite characters and the strength of the Na’vi people are the emotional core that ends up in a great call of action to fight together and save their holy land. The rhythm of the film is active as it alternates the moments of intense battle with those of contemplation, which makes the characters more familiar to us and helps us explore their internal conflicts.

The lasting impact was the deep message of the film of environmental responsibility and the need to be in union with nature. The scene, in which wildlife and spirits of Pandora came to protect their land, made me feel inspired and hopeful in the midst of the havoc. With the amazing visual effects and the touching narration, Avatar 3: Fire and Ash is a movie that makes a splash and leaves a sense of the eternal spirit of Pandora and the indissoluble family and culture.
