Sarman’s rectitude and courage arouse the disenfranchised people to oppose Maham’s avaricious and cruel nature, paving the way for a fight between good and evil. The film is a beautiful depiction of the grandeur of the city, with elaborate sets and costumes that evoke the splendor of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization.
Themes of love, betrayal and political corruption heighten the story. Amidst the chaos, Sarman and Chaani’s love story unfolds, representing hope and resilience. The flooding of Mohenjo Daro is a literal and a symbolic cleansing, representing the strength of nature and the concept of renewal. Sarman’s leadership, and his constant moral uprightness, ultimately save the city as he brings the people together to overcome the imminent disaster and rebuild anew, represented by the naming of the Ganga River.
Beautifully designed and moving, “Mohenjo Daro” is a majestic tribute to the glory of India’s past and the themes of courage and justice that have endured through time. Hrithik Roshan brings a strong performance, showcasing the qualities of a true hero. Its panoramic shots, very typical music and epic action are so immersive that viewers feel like they can step right into the film and experience that legendary era themselves. The message of this story is clearly one of integrity, resilience and hope, though there are some melodramatic moments. Overall, “Mohenjo Daro” is a film that celebrates the human spirit and the legacy of one of the world’s earliest civilizations, making for an enjoyable and thought-provoking experience.
