Oasis Season 1 is an exciting Spanish movie about the largest resort in Oasis, where it’s evident that everything is done to make your stay perfect. The story becomes an intense investigation when daughter of the resort’s director, Celia, suddenly disappears. During his visit with his working class family, Dani bonds with Celia prior to her abduction and the series tracks his quest and Celia’s best friend, Helena, to discover the truth. The police enter in a lockdown and suspicion is raised as employees and visitors are uncovering secrets, secret rooms and secret relationships. The drama and the suspense go hand-in-hand; every discovery keeps the audience in suspense as Dani and Helena uncover more about the resort’s hidden secrets.
When the hotel investigation into the crime uncovers a criminal network operating under the hotel’s glamorous facade, things get more serious. Celia finds out that her ineptitude saw her accidentally come face-to-face with a drug trafficking network set up by her father Luis, who had been allowing it to go on, in order to save his failing enterprise. This was a shady world that is concealed behind the resort’s opulence, and reveals the contrast between what is there and what is not. Secrets are revealed as the characters peel back the layers of the resort’s surface, threatening to undo all the characters. The series is an effective exploration of themes of greed, corruption, and the compromises which are taken in order to maintain wealth and status quo.
The series concludes with a surprising twist, in which Luis’ main character in the series, Inspector Sandra Ortega, is actually a drug dealer with Luis. Ortega suspects Celia is the one who is going to let everyone know, kidnaps her and secures her for his own purposes. The surprise raises viewers’ question of justice and the corrupting power in viewers mind. The first series of ‘Oasis’ is an intriguing mix of mystery, social commentary and suspense, packaged neatly and delivered with complete fascination and engagement, while still prompting the audience to ponder the darker reality that lies under the surface of glitz and glamour.
